PHOENIX – At his joint press conference with Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly ahead of the Fiesta Bowl, Urban Meyer might have taken a load off one of his player’s shoulders.

The Ohio State head coach was asked about his junior class, which features many NFL-ready players. The beginning of his response declared an unannounced player for next spring’s NFL Draft.

“Three have already said they’re going to leave,” Meyer said. “That’s Zeke, Joey, and Cardale.”

This should not come as a shock to anyone who has watched Joey Bosa play. The defensive end is a first-team All-American and is the top player on many draft experts’ boards. The junior has totaled 144 tackles, 26 sacks, five forced fumbles, and one interception in his three years in Columbus.

Bosa was asked about his intentions during his availability before the bowl game, but stated that he would make an announcement after the contest.

“Everything’s in place, so I’m not really worrying about anything,” he said. “Everything’s taken care of. Everything’s all good. All I’ve got to worry about is playing football and worry about this team and this game.”

Now Bosa doesn’t have to worry about making any announcement. Thanks, Coach.

Bosa, along with running back Ezekiel Elliott, quarterback Cardale, and likely several other juniors, will play their final game for the Scarlet and Gray in Friday’s Fiesta Bowl against the Fighting Irish.
