Ohio State Names Player of the Week, Champions Following Bowling Green Win

COLUMBUS – After a dominating performance like a 77-10 win over Bowling Green, you would expect everyone to receive accolades. On Monday morning, Ohio State announced quite a few.

The Buckeyes Twitter account confirmed what was to be expected.

Quarterback J.T. Barrett (21-of-31 for 349 yards and seven total touchdowns) and H-back Curtis Samuel (261 total yards and three touchdowns) are co-offensive players of the week.

Safety Malik Hooker (two interceptions) is defensive player of the week.

Kicker Tyler Durbin, who made his first start and made all 11 extra points and three solo tackles, is the special teams player of the week.

At his weekly Monday press conference, head coach Urban Meyer announced the many champions from the victory.

On offense Barrett, Samuel, redshirt freshman running back Mike Weber, redshirt sophomore wide receiver Terry McClaurin, redshirt freshman wide receiver K.J. Hill and fifth-year center Pat Elflein.

The defensive champions are Hooker, redshirt sophomore defensive end Jalyn Holmes, junior cornerback Gareon Conley, redshirt junior linebacker Chris Worley and fifth-year senior linebacker Joe Burger.

Honorable mention included defensive end Sam Hubbard, cornerback Denzel Ward, defensive end Tyquan Lewis, Damon Webb and freshman defensive end Nick Bosa on defensive and Eric Glover-Williams on special teams.

The Buckeyes face Tulsa next Saturday at 3:30 and Meyer said it's time to move on in preparation for a very sound team.
