No. 12 Buckeyes Upset No. 2 Maryland 98-87

Columbus, Ohio - Ohio State came out like they were shot out of a cannon on their way to a 98-87 upset of number two Maryland on Monday night. The Buckeyes extend their win streak to 10 straight games and now sport a 24-5 overall record including 14-1 in conference play.

Kelsey Mitchell spearheaded the Ohio State attacking scoring 31 points on 11-18 from the field, including 3-9 from deep and 6-8 from the line while playing 40 minutes in the contest.

Shayla Cooper had a huge performance on senior night tying a season-high with 20 points on 6-10 shooting and a perfect 3-3 from downtown while adding nine boards and five assists.

Alexa Hart had her best performance of the year scoring a season-high 15 points and grabbing four rebounds in 26 minutes off of the bench.Linnae Harper and Sierra Calhoun also contributed 11 points apiece for the Buckeyes.

The Buckeyes set season-highs for field goal percentage (63.2%) and 3-point percentage (63.2%) in the contest.

Shatori Walker-Kimborough led the Terrapins with 29 points while Brionna Jones adding 21 to the Terrapins effort.

The Buckeyes came out firing on all cylinders in the first quarter hitting their last 12 shots in the quarter. Their streak ended in the second quarter after hitting a program record 15 straight shots from the field. Ohio State ended the game with a season-high 63.2 field goal percentage and a season-high 55.6% from 3-point range.

The Buckeyes came out hot holding a 35-22 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Buckeyes fought off a tough string of turnovers and used their fast break scoring and pressure defense to help hold a 49-40 lead at the half.

In the second half the Terrapins slowly chipped away at the lead by outrebounding the Buckeyes on the offensive glass 20-4. Ohio State just kept shooting and was able to salt the game away by shooting 69.2 percent from the field in the fourth quarter.

The Buckeyes will enjoy a six day break before heading to Newark to take on Rutgers Sunday Feb. 26 for their final game of the regular season. The game is set to start at 3 p.m. and will be aired on ESPN2.
