Buckeyes Lead B1G Wrestling Tournament Heading to Last Day of Competition
By John Porentas

Ohio State has advanced six wrestlers to the championship round of the Big Ten wrestling tournament. In doing so they have accumulate 117 team points to lead the tournament headed into the final day of competition on Sunday.  Defending national champions Penn State is currently in second with 98.5 team points and perennial wrestling power Iowa still is within striking distance with 95 team points. Fourth-place Minnesota has 81 and realistically does not have a chance to win the tournament.

Buckeyes who are still alive to win the title in their weight class are Nathan Tomasello at 133 pounds, Micah Jordan at 149, Bo Jordan at 174, Myles Martin at 184, Kollin Moore at 197 and Kyle Snyder at 285.

The Buckeyes also have two wrestlers still alive for a third-place finish and two more still alive a 7th-place finish.

Perhaps the biggest win of the entire meet was scored by Buckeye 184 pounder Myles Martin over Penn State's Bo Nikal, Martin won the national championship last year at 174 but has moved up a weight class this season. Nikal entered the match undefeated on the season and ranked number one in the nation and had defeated Martin in a dual meet earlier this year, but Martin was able to outscore Nikal 6-4 to hand Nikal his first loss of the season.

In another upset, 3-seed Micah Jordan defeated 2-seed Brandon Sorenson of Iowa to advance to the finals at 149.

Remaining wrestlers for teams till contending for the championship:

First Place: Ohio State 6, Iowa 4, Penn State 3

Third Place: Ohio State 2, Iowa 2, Penn State 2

Seventh Place: Ohio State 2, Iowa 1, Penn State 1
